The user guide explains every screen. The privacy policy says what Numkoi does with your data. Common questions are below.

Questions

What is a variable? A name for a number or some text. Change it once and every formula that uses it updates.

What is a formula? A calculation you saved, built from variables, numbers and other formulas.

Can I keep cards in groups? Yes: the Dashboard has pages, 2 in the free version and up to 8 with Numkoi Pro, each with up to 48 cards. Tap the page name under the title and choose Pages to add, rename, reorder or delete them, and touch and hold a card to move it to another page (section 7).

Why is there no equals key? The answer shows as you type. An equals key would replace your chips with a number.

How do I start a new calculation? Tap C. If a formula is open, tap < New calculation.

Why does Library say "Not run yet" under my formula? The formula asks for a number each time and you have not saved a result for it yet. It can still show an answer, for example on a Dashboard card, from the current value of the variable it asks for; tap Run on its row and save the result to set a new value and keep the answer.

Why is Save and add to calculation grey? The value is text. Text cannot go into math. Save as text keeps it.

Why does 200 + 15% give 200.15? % divides by 100 everywhere. Use 200 × 1.15.

Why does an answer start with ≈? Digits are hidden by the rounding. The exact value is under it, and Settings changes the decimals.

Why can't I tap a variable? Its value is text, so it can't go into a calculation. Change it to a number in Library.

Why does "2 + 3" not become a variable? A variable holds one number or text. Save a calculation as a formula.

Why can't a formula use itself? Formulas that use each other cannot be calculated. Numkoi greys out the chip and names the formula involved.

Why does a result say "Missing"? A variable or formula it uses was deleted. Open Recently deleted and restore it.

I deleted something by mistake. Tap Undo within 10 seconds, or open Recently deleted. Items are kept 30 days.

Why does my widget say "Open Numkoi once"? The widget reads a file the app writes, and the app has not written it yet. Open Numkoi, then wait a moment.

Why does my Shortcut ask me for a number? The formula asks for it each time and the Value fields in Run Formula were empty. Fill them in, or answer when asked (section 9).

Does Numkoi send my data anywhere? No. The only request it ever makes is from a variable you set up to pull its value from a web address you typed in: it asks that address, with what you entered, and nothing goes to the developer or anyone else. The owner of that address sees the request. Section 14 says exactly what is sent and where keys are kept.

Does it work offline? Does it sync? It works offline. A variable that pulls from a web address needs a connection to refresh and keeps its last value without one, and the Gallery shows the examples that came with the app when it cannot be reached. Your data stays on your device and does not sync between devices in this version.
